COURT REMANDS 65 YEAR OLD RANDY MAN FOR DEFILING A CHILD, VIRGIN HEART FOUNDATION MAKES CASE.




A high court sitting in owerri, IMO state today remanded a sixty-five year old man, Eke Duru for sexually assaulting an eight years old child.
Mr. Duru hails from Ubommiri, Mbaitoli local government area, IMO state, and until his incarceration was a  driver with great grace bakery, ubommiri.
The suspect was said to have taken turns repeatedly on the child, ten times on different occasions.
The complainant(mother of the child) Mrs. Florence Opara narrated the ugly incidence of how her daughter was severally assaulted without her knowing of it.
She mentioned that the suspect who supplies bread to shops in their street usually lured the child to a container abandoned close to the house, covers her mouth with white handkerchief and force himself on her, afterwards threatened to kill her if she tells anyone.
" the last day, he came to supply bread as usual, only to take my daughter to a container, pull her dress, covered her mouth with a handkerchief, but this time, a passerby noticed what was happening and raised alarm" this even happened when we were all at home"
"My daughter opened up and to my greatest shock, I didn't know my daughter has been defiled talk more of being defiled ten times by same man"
In an interview with  the victim, she told virgin heart foundation  that she wants the suspect flogged and disciplined.
The Facilitator, Virgin heart foundation, Peace Dike, regretted the worrisome increasing number of gender based violence, especially child sexual defilement recorded during this period of lockdown caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
She commended the IMO state police for their proactive stand in ensuring that people culpable of gender based violence were made to face the full wrath of the law.
She Added that the rising cases of child defilement , calls for more attention of children. "Parenting is not restricted to making provisions or paying fees of your children, it entails taking care of the child' emotions, spiritual and psychological needs, some parents have failed with this responsibility, they have raised kids who are so timid and naive"
The organization called on parents to teach their wards to speak out and report ugly incidence to the police for help.
